Read Rober C. Martin´s article. But it´s strange to see this realization so late. All the "team hype" (every one being equal, not "knowledge islands") - and now: someone needs to stand-out so we get stuff done.

I recommend "The Invisible Hook" for a description of a "trade" which early on realized how important self-organization of teams was - but at the same time knew very well, someone needed to stand-out.

We shouldn´t strive to be cool hackers, or medieval craftsmen. That´s stale metaphers. Why not choose a new one: let´s become pirates of the code sea? ;-)
