Re: The key difference between developer and architect roles

Architects = failed coders? That is spoken by a developer that is pompous and arrogant. The type of developer that make my job as an architect even more critical as I have to do the cleanup work to fix their mistakes and turn the ship around, because they "know" too much to ask for guidance or accept direction. As a developer I worked on many projects without an architect, all of which failed because the development team couldn't see the long term vision or understand how to not get so deep into defining a solution. This is why so many startups fail. If architects aren't important why are there no large companies without them?
